For 15 years, STASH has been a cornerstone of Norman’s shopping scene, growing from a single room into a vibrant, ever-evolving space filled with meaningful goods and even more meaningful experiences.

But ask owner Becca Bean what STASH really is, and you’ll quickly realize it’s about much more than what’s on the shelves.

More Than a Shop

At its core, STASH is a carefully curated collection of goods with a purpose to tell a story and support one too.

“Every item at STASH is either made in America, a lot of it made right here in Oklahoma, is vintage, or is fair trade,” says Becca. “So when you shop at STASH, you can find a great gift… but you’re also supporting a lot of independent makers and businesses throughout the country, many of them from right here in Oklahoma.”

From candles and perfumes to locally made T-shirts, crystals sourced from the Tucson Gem Show, and Native-made jewelry from the Four Corners region, STASH offers a shopping experience that feels equal parts personal, intentional, and one-of-a-kind.

And then there’s the scent.

If you’ve ever stepped inside STASH, you know it instantly: the warm, woodsy aroma of piñon incense, softly filling the space. It’s become a signature of the shop, creating an atmosphere that feels equal parts calming, nostalgic, and distinctly STASH.

Built as a Gathering Place

While STASH began as a retail concept, Becca always envisioned it as something more: a space where community could grow just as much as the business itself.

“We saw STASH from day one as not just being a gift shop… but as hopefully a hub of the community,” she says. “We wanted people to have a great experience while looking around.”

That vision has come to life through the years in the form of events, celebrations, and creative gatherings, from book signings and fundraisers to brewery festivals and artist showcases.

“Anytime we do something, it’s with a mind toward building community and making Norman stronger and more vibrant,” Becca says.

A Space to Explore, Connect, and Feel Good

As STASH has grown, so has its impact, not just as a business, but as a place people return to again and again.

“When I think about the impact of a place like STASH, I think about folks having a third space where they can come and feel a moment of reprieve and joy,” Becca says. “It’s a place of exploration, a place of community, and a place of—we hope—beauty and positivity.”

That feeling is woven into every corner of the shop, inviting visitors to slow down, discover something new, and leave feeling just a little bit lighter.

Growing with EDO

STASH's story is deeply tied to the growth of Norman’s EDO District (East Downtown), a now-thriving area that has transformed dramatically over the past decade.

“When we first opened, all of the businesses on either side of Stash were either vacant or used for storage,” Becca recalls. “There was nowhere to eat or drink, we were on the other side of the ‘invisible river’ that is Porter Avenue.”

Since then, EDO has blossomed into a destination filled with locally owned businesses, from breweries and retail shops to studios and event spaces, all contributing to a walkable, energetic district.

“It’s been a real joy to watch the evolution of EDO,” she says. “Now it’s a place where people can eat, play, shop, and just have a really great time.”

An Experience Worth Sharing

At the end of the day, whether someone is browsing STASH for the first time or attending an event in EDO, Becca hopes visitors leave with something that goes beyond a purchase.

“When people come to visit EDO, the number one thing I hope they take with them is an experience that’s so positive, so effervescent, so cheerful and unique that they can’t help but share it with their friends and family,” she says.

Because in Norman’s EDO District, and especially inside STASH, the goal isn’t just to shop, it’s to feel something worth passing on.
