Eight new Norman spots that have opened since last football season
There will still be a signal caller wearing a No. 1 jersey taking the snaps and there will still be a coach wearing an iconic visor (we think) under a headset Sunday night when the 2019 season kicks off, but there will be a few places that have opened since last fall you should be sampling soon.
Eight of the newest spots to open in Norman:
El Huevo Mexi-Diner opened in the spring. Located in Northwest Norman at the intersection of 24th Ave. NW and Tecumseh Road, the Hal Smith Restaurant Group concept serves brunch with a spicy flair.
Press & Plow also opened in the spring. The coffee and wine bar offers a wide selection of bakery items, cheeses and sandwiches from its Tecumseh Road store, between Interstate 35 and 24th Ave. NW.
Pryor's Pizza Kitchen became an almost instant Downtown favorite when it opened in June. With a great Norman story and even better pizza, the eatery also offers great appetizers, salads and desserts. (Pictured above: "Pizza is my relationship status.")
Sam's Southern Eatery opened in early 2019 in the Downtown area and serves Louisiana cuisine, including generous portions of fried seafood.
Thai Thai Asian Bistro opened its second Norman eatery in the spring. Located in the same area as El Huevo at 24th Ave. NW and Tecumseh Road, Thai Thai also delivers.
Volcano's Mexican Food is new to West Lindsey Street, between 24th Ave. NW and McGee, and serves Mexican food including more than 30 combination meals.
A truck-to-table concept, The Meating Place opened in Downtown Norman in August 2019. Norman's only barbecue restaurant with a full bar, the eatery features entrees, sandwiches, appetizers and salads with a barbecue flair.
Volcano Sushi and Hibachi Bar opened its fourth metro OKC location in Norman in June 2019 in Brookhaven Village serving sushi, hibachi, sakes and dessert.
