Kid-friendly Activities for a Spring Break Stay-cation

For many families, traveling for spring break isn’t always an option. Airfare is out of the question. Getting a hotel could be cost prohibitive. Plus, sometimes it’s just nice to stay put and relax in your hometown or state. However, a stay-cation often results in bored, antsy kiddos

Even though spring break has already started, here are a few activities to keep your littles busy for the next few days in Norman.

Check out the Sam Noble Museum events and exhibits. Spring Break is the perfect time to take the family to Museum of Natural History for fun and learning because there are so many events and exhibits perfect for the kids. Take part in one of its Spring Break Escape events during the week. See the “Ugly Bug!” exhibit. Even participate in one of their regular events, Feeding Time at the Same Noble Museum.

Get the kids moving at Climb UP Gym. It can be tempting to just sit around the house during spring break. Though you could kick back on the sofa to watch movies, pull your family away from the TV screen and take them to Climb UP Gym. If you missed registration for their spring break rock-climbing camp, you can still take your family for some bouldering and belaying.

Take advantage of one of Norman’s many parks. Norman is unique in that it is home to numerous parks and outdoor areas. Find a park close to you or across town and have a family picnic at Reaves Park, play a game to get the kids moving at Andrews Park or go for a walk and explore nature at George Sutton Wilderness Park or Lake Thunderbird. Some parks such as Colonial Estates and Lions Park even have disc golf. See more Norman park listings here.

3rd Saturday Market

Support local vendors while having a fun outing with the fam at the first 3rd Saturday Market of 2017. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. shop vintage and handmade goods in the Circa parking lot.

Hollywood Theaters Spotlight 14

Need an activity for after the sun goes down? Catch a new release at the movies. Take the kids to see The Lego Batman Movie or Beauty and the Beast. Or if you have older kids, take them to see brand new blockbusters like Logan or Kong: Skull Island.

Bowling and More

Still too chilly for outdoor fun? Take the family to HeyDay for laser tag, arcade games, bowling and more. Or just make it a family bowling night and see who can roll the most strikes at Sooner Bowling on 24th Avenue. Andy Alligator's is featuring some specials this week for kiddos and their families this week.
